The Pittsburgh Steelers clinched the AFC North division in 2016 with a regular-season record of 11-5. In the last three seasons, the team has consistently advanced one step further into the playoffs, reaching the wild-card round in 2014, the divisional in 2015, and the conference championship in 2016. Two key factors have contributed to this momentum.

First, the Steelers have maintained a consistently balanced roster in terms of positional talent. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, running back Le’Veon Bell, and wide receiver Antonio Brown all rank among the top athletes in their respected positions. In addition, an underrated group of linemen has helped propel the offense.

Second, on defense, the Steelers have improved in league ranking from 30th in 2014 to 11th in 2016, and the unit stands to further improve in 2017 with the return of Cameron Heyward from injury. League analysts project that as the defense, as well as the offense, comes together, Pittsburgh has a legitimate opportunity to win the conference and advance to the Super Bowl this season.
